LinkedIn does not natively support importing Open Badges. However, there are three ways to display an Open Badge you've earned on your LinkedIn.com profile.

Option #1: Adding a badge to your profile as a LinkedIn "post":

  1. Log in to https://achievementstudio.com
  2. Click on the "Badges" menu in the navigation bar at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the badge you wish to share on LinkedIn.
  4. On the right side of the page, click the blue button for “New Share Link”
  5. A box with a URL to your badge award will appear, and next to it are buttons for Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  6. Click on the third button which is for LinkedIn; a pop-up window will open, prompting you to log into your LinkedIn account.
  7. After you authenticate, you will see two options in the pop-up window: "Share in a post" and "Send as private message".
  8. Click on "Share in a post".
  9. On the next screen, you will see a drop-down menu that defaults to "Anyone"; click on this if you want to control who can see the post you're creating with your badge.
  10. Where the screen says "What do you want do talk about?" you may click and add your own commentary or description of the badge.
  11. If you scroll down further on the screen, you will also see a “Add hashtag” link on the left for adding hashtags to the post.
  12. Click the blue "Post" button in the bottom right-side of the screen.
  13. You will see a message that says "Post successful!" and then may click a button to either "View post" or "Continued to LinkedIn.com".
  14. Based on the viewing permissions you set in Step #9 above, people will now be able to view, "Like", "Comment", or "Share" your post. Anyone who clicks on the badge image will be taken to a page on https://achievementstudio.com that verifies and displays your badge award.
  15. On LinkedIn.com, if you want to manage this post (e.g., edit, delete, etc.), click on the three horizontal dots in the upper-right of the post to access those functions.

There are two other places on your LinkedIn profile that may be appropriate to share your badge as well:

Option #2: Certifications*

*Please note this option ONLY works if the badge you received is from an organization that has a presence on LinkedIn.

  1. Log in to https://linkedin.com.
  2. Click on the "Me" icon in the upper-right of the page.
  3. Click on "View Profile".
  4. Just below your name, photo, current title, and location; look for a button that says "Add profile section", and click to open it.
  5. Under the "Background" menu, click an item called "Licenses & Certifications" (you may need to add this section to your profile it wasn’t already there).
  6. On the “Add license or certification” form that will appear, enter the “Name”, “Issuing organization”, and optionally issue month and year you received the badge. Please note that the “Issuing organization” field requires you to select from organizations with a registered presence on LinkedIn.
  7. Enter the Share Link URL to your badge on AchievementStudio.com in the input field labeled "Credential URL" (you can get the URL to your badge by following Steps 1-4 in the first set of instructions above, but copy the URL shown just to the left of the three blue social network icons).
  8. Click “Save”.

Option #3: Honors & Awards**

**Please note this option works if the badge you received is from an organization that does NOT have a presence on LinkedIn.

  1. Log in to https://linkedin.com.
  2. Click on the "Me" icon in the upper-right of the page.
  3. Click on "View profile".
  4. Just below your name, photo, current title, and location; look for a button that says "Add profile section", and click to open it.
  5. Under the "Accomplishments" menu, click an item called "Honors & Awards" (you may need to add this section to your profile it wasn’t already there).
  6. On the “Add honors & awards” form that will appear, enter the “Title” and optionally “Associated with” (indicating which current/past job your badge was connected to), “Issuer” (i.e., the organization that gave you the badge), and issue month and year.
  7. In the input field labeled "Description", optionally enter any commentary or description of the badge, but then also enter the Share Link URL to your badge on AchievementStudio.com. Please note that LinkedIn does NOT make URLs in this description field a clickable hyperlink, so people viewing your profile will have to copy and paste it into their web browsers to view your badge details.
